Cowdenbeath scored their 5,000th league goal when they got off to an absolute flyer of a start against Albion Rovers. It was Ryan McCallum whose vision set up Robert Downs just outside the box, and the striker skipped infield to strike an unstoppable drive into the corner of the net.

The orange side should have equalised six minutes later, when a delightful chip from George Wallace set Lee Wilson haring though unmarked on goal, but the pint-sized striker could only watch in dismay as his attempted lob could not clear David Hay in the Cowdenbeath goalmouth.

Fast starts seemed to be a Cowdenbeath speciality as it took only one minute after the restart for the away side to double their lead. Kevin McBride's corner ricocheted around the home side's box before the ball fell to Markus Paatelainen, brother of manager Mixu, who had the easiest of finishes from only six yards.

Cowdenbeath turned the screw and effectively ended the game as a spectacle six minutes later when Kevin McBride's dangerous in-swinging cross was met by Ryan McCallum, who rose above the static home defence to powerfully head into the roof of the net to ensure all three points for the away side.
