A Sean Paliczka hat-trick fired East Fife to a resounding 6-0 victory over ragged Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill Stadium.
The visitors looked fired up following their weekend defeat to East Stirling and the prospect of Albion drawing level on points with them if they lost.
With only three minutes on the clock Paliczka put East Fife in front with a low drive from what looked an impossible angle, which beat Chris Fahey at his near post.
They then doubled their lead after 15 minutes when the Rovers defence failed to clear their lines and Gavin Beith was on hand to volley the ball into the top corner.
Paliczka grabbed a second when he tapped in at the back post following a Kris Brash ball across the face of goal.
Brian Fairbairn put the game beyond doubt with what was the pick of the bunch after only 29 minutes, when he curled a free-kick from 25 yards into the top corner.
The home side's only chance of the match came when Sean McInulty had a long-range drive tipped round the post by John McCafferty.
It was the same story after the interval as the Rovers defence continued to toil, and Greig McDonald got on to the score sheet with a header from close range.
The scoring was completed on the hour mark with Paliczka's hat-trick, as he cut inside and fired a low left-foot shot in off the post.
