The Wee Rovers put a bit of a dent in the Queen's push for a play-off place when a late Craig Young goal sealed all three points for the home side.
The first half was an even affair with both sides having chances early on without troubling the keeper. On 10 minutes Rovers' Stephen Donachy beat three men as he burst through from midfield only for David Crawford to save with his feet to keep him out.
The remainder of the first half was full of mistakes as both sides struggled to come to terms with a bumpy pitch that made passing football almost impossible.
Eleven minutes after the break the home side almost took the lead when Scott Chaplain's 20-yard shot was turned round the post by Crawford diving full length to his right.
Halfway through the half home keeper Gary McGlynn was grateful to his right-hand post for keeping the score level as he stood rooted to the spot from a Bryan Felvus free-kick. The Queen's striker did have the ball in the net four minutes later but his strike from a 25-yard free-kick was controversially ruled out for offside.
The Spiders had another chance to seal the game with 10 minutes left when sub David Weatherston burst through from midfield but McGlynn blocked his close-range effort.
The visitors were made to pay for these missed opportunities when Young scored with eight minutes left. He was quick to get on to a right-wing cross and when his original effort rebounded off the keeper he was first to react to poke the ball home from close range.
