Both Albion Rovers and Queens Parked failed to set the touch paper alight for most of the match, but the fireworks display kicked in with five minutes to go to provide excellent entertainment.

The home side should have taken the lead after 19 minutes when a corner that was cleared allowed Stephen Donachy to race 80 yards with the ball to confront keeper David Crawford. The keeper stayed tall and parried the player's weak effort.

Queens quickly countered and scored thanks to some nimble footwork by David Weatherston on the by-line which allowed the burly striker to run clean through on goal. Keeper Jamie Ewings was alert enough to race off the line, but Weatherston scored with a cheeky nutmeg.

Rovers' hit man George Wallace went off after half-time, and despite a substantial amount of plotting in midfield the home side could not find the gun powder to demolish a solid Spiders' rearguard.

Just as it seemed that all three points were travelling back to Hampden, a whipping cross from Danny Black was missed by the Queens' defence, allowing Martin Bonar a gift of a simple six-yard tap-in.

Queens Park almost stole the points at the stroke of full time when Anthony Quinn's rocket seemed net bound only for Ciaran Donnelly to dramatically clear the ball off the line.

Albion are still seeking their first win of the season while Queens Park must rue the two points lost in a match they really should have won.
