Arbroath stayed at the top of the Third Division after a 3-0 win at home to 10-man Albion Rovers, who missed out on the chance to overtake their opponents.
The key incident came in the 66th minute when Albion goalkeeper Derek Gaston was dismissed for a foul in the box on Gavin Swankie.
Paul Sheerin slotted home the resulting penalty to make it 2-0.
Swankie had given Arbroath the lead with a 12-yard strike from Paul Sheerin's pass from the left in the seventh minute.
The match remained in the balance until the red card with John Gemmell going close for Albion six minutes before the interval.
Swankie scored his second and Arbroath's third with six minutes remaining with a fierce drive into the bottom-right corner from 12 yards to seal the win.
