Two goals from Lee Wilson, one in each half, secured the points for Albion Rovers in a forgettable bottom-of-the-league scrap which condemns East Stirling to last place in the league.
There was plenty of honest endeavour from both teams but few periods of play which deserved to be described as football. The opening goal was a bit lucky and was down to an error by Shire goal-keeper Derek Jackson.
Defender Mark Tyrrell, M tried to relieve Rovers' pressure with a pass-back to his keeper, and although the closing forward was at least 10 yards away Jackson's attempted clearance struck Wilson and rebounded back over the keeper's head into the unguarded net.
Shortly afterwards Shire's Chris McGroarty produced the one moment of skill in the entire match by neatly taking down a long ball and bringing it out of defence before cleverly slipping his defender, but as the Rovers' keeper advanced, his lob went just wide of the upright.
That was the closest that Shire came to getting on the scoresheet, and when Wilson doubled the visitors' advantage 10 minutes from the end there was no way back for them. The goal came from a neat one-two between Wilson and team mate Ricky Patrick inside the Shire box which left the striker with an easy finish from around the six-yard line.
With victory secured, Rovers took their foot off the gas to ease their way to the final whistle.
